Why We Love Baby Blankets as a Birth Gift
When it comes to a newborn's basic needs, many people first think of diapers, milk, and a safe place to sleep. However, an often underestimated component of baby gear is the baby blanket. Personally, I received a blanket for the birth of my first child and found it to be a very special birth gift.
For La Ferme Bergamote, I have designed two baby and children's blankets: the Merino baby blanket and the Linen baby blanket. Both are incredibly sweet and cuddly.
Here are some reasons why we love baby blankets at La Ferme Bergamote so much:
1. Comfort and Safety
A baby blanket provides little ones with a comfortable and safe environment. It gives warmth and a sense of security, reminding the baby of the snugness and safety of the womb. This familiarity can help a baby sleep better and feel generally more comfortable. The baby blanket often smells like home and can provide reassurance and security.
2. Versatility
Baby blankets are incredibly versatile. They can be used as a swaddle blanket, nursing cover, sunshade in the stroller, play mat, and much more. This multifunctionality makes them an indispensable accessory for parents. Whether on the go or at home, a baby blanket is always useful. That’s why both of our blankets are cut extra-large to meet all aspects of versatility.
3. Individuality and Style
Baby blankets come in countless designs, colors, and materials. We love the high-quality Merino wool, which is incredibly breathable. The Merino blanket is adorned with cute hearts and is wonderfully soft. The second blanket is our large linen blanket, which we are in love with. Especially on warm days, this blanket is elegant, timeless, and a must-have.
4. Sustainability and Sentimental Value
In a world that increasingly values sustainability, baby blankets made from high-quality materials can last a long time and even be passed down from generation to generation. A well-preserved baby blanket can become a valuable keepsake that reminds parents of their child's early days.
5. Promoting Development
A baby blanket can also contribute to a child's development. Different textures, colors, and patterns can stimulate the baby's senses and promote sensory development. Exploring and feeling the blanket can also strengthen motor skills. Our linen blanket is embroidered with Clementine the cow. I love going hiking and seeing our Swiss mountain cows while pointing out the linen blanket.
Conclusion
The love for baby blankets goes far beyond their practical use. They offer comfort, security, and an emotional connection that often lasts a lifetime. Their versatility and personal value make them an indispensable part of any baby layette. Whether as a faithful companion or a lovingly kept keepsake, baby blankets hold a special place in our hearts.
So, the next time you see a baby blanket, remember that it is not just a piece of fabric. It is a symbol of love, care, and comfort—and that is precisely why we love baby blankets.
