The ice dance: how Sophie, Monti and Finn danced across the ice
It was a freezing cold winter's day when Monti and Finn were walking through the snow-covered forest. They could already see their friend Sophie the deer from afar. Monti called out excitedly and with great joy: "Sooophie, Sophie - we're in the forest too and would like to play."
The young deer looked up, her eyes grew wide with joy and she called out: "Monti, Finn, what a joy! The forest is so magical with all the snow, don't you think?"
"Yes, it is! Do you fancy a little adventure? Last summer I discovered a very small lake. Maybe it's already frozen over?" Finn replied: "oh yes, we could go ice skating on a frozen lake?"
And so the group of friends made their way to the small lake in the middle of the snowy forest. They stepped through the deep snow, under large snow-covered fir trees... when they spotted the lake in a clearing. And indeed. There was no water to be seen, just a clear layer of ice. Sophie carefully stepped onto the glistening ice. With every step, she felt how slippery it was and she first had to find her balance on the slippery surface. But she soon realized how much fun it was to glide on the ice and called out to her friends: "This is fantastic!"
And so Monti set off onto the frozen lake. She took her first steps carefully onto the ice... until.... Huuuuuups... she slipped with her paws and landed on her bottom in a big bow.
The little dog had to laugh out loud. It was so slippery, but also so funny. The clever fox Finn thought for a moment and called out to his friends: "I'll be right back!".
And so he ran to the nearest big spruce, broke off four small pieces of branch and tied them under his paws. And so he stepped onto the ice without slipping. The cunning fox had built himself little anti-slip shoes - he could still glide across the ice, but had more grip.
"Wow, Finn, you never cease to amaze me with your ideas!" Monti marveled.
Together they began to slide across the ice, faster and faster. Their laughter filled the forest as they cheered each other on and slid across the glistening ice. "This is so great!" exclaimed Monti. "I can't stop laughing!" giggled Sophie. The three of them began a kind of ice dance, whirling and gliding across the icy surface. Their merry laughter filled the wintry air and was music to the forest.
Sophie shouted: "Let's have a race! Whoever gets to the other end of the lake first wins!" And off they sped, each at full power and speed. The ice beneath their paws was like a glittering dance floor.
"I'm not that fast, but it's still so much fun!" said Sophie.
"Look how fast I am!" shouted the playful dog, Monti. The race ended in a merry mess as they all skidded to the finish line at the same time, barely able to breathe with laughter.
"That was so great! We should play on icy lakes more often!" said Finn. "Definitely! That was one of the best adventures we've ever had!" agreed Monti.
As the sun slowly set, the friends said goodbye to the icy lake. They returned to the forest, laughing and chatting about their exciting adventures.
"Winter really is magical, isn't it?" said the young deer Sophie.
"Absolutely! There are so many wonderful things to discover," Monti marveled. "I'm so grateful to have such great friends," the young fox decided happily.
And so ended this day of fun and friendship in the wintry forest, while the three of them enjoyed the magic of winter and the joy of playing together.
