Growing Baby and Children's Clothing: Our Collections Grow with Your Child and We Love It
When I became a mom, I noticed how quickly my son was growing. Clothes piled up – but some styles fit him longer, often it was the sleeves that no longer fit. This inspired me to sew the first prototypes of growing baby and children's clothing with my grandmother.
The First Steps: Sewing Growing Baby Clothes
We sat down in my grandmother's kitchen and brought out her heavy, old sewing machine. My grandma is incredibly quick; she fetched pens, drawing paper, and tape. With a design in mind, we began sketching the very first prototype on paper. This was adjusted to fit my son, adding a few centimeters in some places and reducing them in others.
The Very First Growing Prototype
When we were happy with the paper prototype, we finally took up the sewing machine and the first growing linen bodysuit was sewn. After a few hours of work and with much pride, my son could wear the first linen prototype. And so our journey into the world of growing baby and children's clothing began.
Why Our Collection Grows
We aim to design timeless collections that can be worn for a long time. I personally associate many of my son's outfits with specific memories and moments we spent together. For example, the merino wool suit with buttons, which he wore on cool summer evenings when we dined out. This suit is excellent at regulating warmth and cold, making it a great companion for sleep as well. The exciting part is that we have many more winters ahead with this merino wool suit.
How the Collection Grows
An important point is the length of sleeves and pants. From experience, it's the arms and legs that "shoot up". Thus, the idea is that sleeves are initially rolled up and then fit for a long time. The same goes for the pant legs. Our linen pants feature a natural rubber band that is elastic and sustainable. The tops have a wrap technique, allowing them to adjust to the child's body.
We love designing our growing baby and children's clothing and seeing how our collections grow with the children. It is not only sustainable but also preserves precious memories in each garment.
